02. MOSTAR, TRACES OF ORIENT
The gate of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Full-day Tour
The trip takes us along the coast through the famous summer resorts along the Makarska Riviera to the fertile Neretva River Delta. Driving towards Bosnia and Herzegovina’s inland we reach Počitelj, a mysterious town
with the old Ottoman-era fortress. After a short break, we continue along the Neretva River valley to Mostar, ‘the window to the Orient’, and an important trade centre during the Ottoman rule. A guide will take us
around the oriental part of the town, with the Old Bazaar full of lively shops and workshops. We will also visit the mosque and a typical Turkish house and walk across the legendary Ottoman Bridge from the 16th century that the city was named after.
There will be time for lunch and a coffee in one of the numerous old restaurants and cafes along the river. We leave Mostar in the late afternoon.
